In 2020, Zoom became a household name, and video conferencing took its place as a business necessity. Yet it still had its shortcomings, especially when it came to sales.

Bloo Kanoo’s flagship product, BK Stream, aimed to solve that problem by integrating Livestream shopping seamlessly with an existing site’s cart. Their app allows meeting hosts to embed the stream on their website, share business materials and products, and give corporations control over sales collateral.

Intending to start development in a couple of weeks and with a few wireframes in hand, they asked us to take their vision and make it a sellable reality.

I had worked with several design agencies, but Meticular stood out because of their desire to dig deeper into our audience’s behavior. The team didn’t just want the app to look beautiful, but they also aimed to provide an excellent experience to our users.

Trust in Meticular’s expertise; they know what they’re doing and will give you what you need.

UX & UI Design

We did secondary research of other video platforms to find common UX patterns to follow and places to innovate.

Prototype

Since we design in Figma, it was easy to create a believable prototype for our behavioral user interviews.

Test

We performed 5 Zoom interviews, watching users interact with the prototype to see what was and wasn’t working.

Refine & Deliver

We made changes based on our testing, and handing off to their developers was a snap through Figma.

An embeddable live stream that works with any cart

After designing the app, we worked on what the experience would look like on the viewing end of a live stream. We really dove into the details to create the optimal video shopping experience. From how to handle product variety selection (size, color, etc.) to showing timed product previews to what product content would be best presented in such a small space.

Revamping video calls for selling

Bloo Kanoo wanted its app to give a presenter all the sales tools needed for success. It would allow presenters to share products, play preloaded content during the stream, and even view participant carts, while still having typical video streaming functionality. After multiple design iterations and user testing, we were able to take the robust functionality and fit it into a mobile app in an intuitive way.

Partner for success, not just UX

Bloo Kanoo told us they wanted to start pitching the concept to potential customers, but needed some marketing collateral. We created a Figma template and trained them on how to make white-labeled graphics for pitch meetings.

We designed a pitch deck, animated videos, and other assets to help them sell to customers. We continue to lend support to this day. Here’s one of the videos we created:
